You can find here actuell information about the university election in summer semester. General information below about election process and what positions you can elect .
University election: 08.07.-14.07 electronic election
At the university, we as students can basically elect the following people or groups: our school representation SoED and the student representation in the Senate (http://www.tum.de/die-tum/die-universitaet/senat/) and University Council (http://www.tum.de/die-tum/die-universitaet/hochschulrat/)
School representation SoED (School of Engineering and Design)
This is the student representation of the School of Engineering and Design
BGU (we!)
FSMB (Mechanical Engineering)
LRG (Aerospace, Geodesy)
MSE (Engineering Sciences)
Architecture
depending on the number of votes, approx. 60 people move in.
School Council (highest decision-making body of the SoED):
The top 4 with the most votes from the School representation represent us on the School Council.
As BGU, we are putting together our own internal list of people who want to get involved in university politics. These people can be elected by all SoED students and, depending on the number of votes, can join the school representation.
Elected students have the following opportunities to get involved:
- Become a BGU delegate in the TUM-wide Student Council (FSR)
- To join the Study Grant Commission (SZK) and Planning Commission – where funds for studies and teaching are co-administered
- To take on other school-wide roles, such as the Buddy Program
- And generally get more information & a say, e.g. in internal meetings
Those who are elected can have a say in what goes on at TUM – for us as BGU and beyond.
Election of the school representation:
Elections are based on the principle of proportional representation. In the election of the School Representation and the School Council, the students of the School of ED have four votes, which can be distributed individually or up to three votes can be given to a single person at the same time.
Student representation in the Senate and School Council elections
Senate (highest body at TUM): two student representatives for the Senate
Primarily issues the subject examination and study regulations, i.e. everything that affects the structure of our studies.
It is made up of professors, staff and two student representatives.
University Council (central supervisory body of the TUM):
Election of the President and Vice-President.
It comprises the members of the Senate as well as external members from business, science and society.
Senate/University Council election:
This is a different election to the School Representation.
It is a separate election proposal with TUM-wide candidates. This election is about university-wide issues and decisions. You have the option of voting with 2 votes and accepting an election proposal – i.e. a list.
